How can you get indepth into Cambodia life in such a limited time of 4 days ? This tour is your answer. Like its name, the tour offers you a shortcut into Kratie countryside famous for Irrawaddy dolphin and Preak Vihea near from Cambodia – Thai border. You also have an option of skip Siem Reap or not.
Travel route: Phnom Penh – Kratie – Preah Vihea – Siem Reap
Day 1: Phnom Penh – Kampong Cham – Kratie (L)
After breakfast, departure from Phnom Penh to Kratie province which takes about 6 hours dive through one of the biggest provinces in Cambodia, Kampong Cham. In this town we visit the local market, walking around the small French colonial building and then we cross the Mekong River by Bamboo Bridge to get into Soten Island we can explore and witness the local culture and daily lives. Lunch will be provided in the local house in this lovely island. Continue to Kratie through the countryside, fruit plantations and green scenery all the way, arrival check in and walk around the town of Kratie. Overnight in Kratie.
Day 2: Kratie – Local culture adventure – Boat trip for dolphin and Sunset (B,L)
Off to the village of Koh Trong to observe and participate in local life of their inhabitants and farmers. Visit the market where the local people trading of vegetables, fruits, fish and so on as long as visit primary school where you will learn the system of education in Cambodia and also visit to local pagodas by interaction with Buddhist Monk and getting the monk blessing ceremony. Return to the lodge for lunch and around 3pm we proceed to Prek Kampi by local boat to observe the rare species of dolphin Irrawaddy until sunset.
Day 3: Kratie – Stung Trong – Chamkar Leour – Kampong Thom – Preah Vihea (B,L)
Breakfast at hotel and today we will enjoy the driving along the Mekong River side, fruit farms, and rubber plantations. The journey will take about 6 to 7 hours driving with paved road and good condition but it provided of lot of nice scenery such as countryside, Khmer Traditional Houses, and the activities of daily lives in remote parts of Cambodia. Lunch will be provided in Kampong Thom Province, after lunch we proceed to overnight in Tbeng Meanchey, the down town of Preah Vihea province. Overnight in Tbeng Meanchey.
Day 4: Tbeng Meanchey – Preah Vihea Temple – Siem Reap (B,L)
After breakfast, we will be driving to the temple of Preah Vihea and it will take around 1 hour. Preah Vihear dates back to the beginning of the 11th century. It dominates the plain from its prominent position in the Dangrek Mountains at an altitude of over 700m. The temple is located near the Thai border and was previously occupied by the Thais. It has recently been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status. Explore this historic temple and take in the sweeping views from the summit over Thailand and Cambodia. Enjoy the picnic lunch and proceed to Siem Reap. End of services.
