PRIVATE TOUR – CODE: VIL01
Nong Khiaw, about 180km from Luang Prabang, is a new rising star of Laos tourism when Vang Vieng adventures are restricted by government. Scenic river, sleeping villages of hill tribes, kayaking, boating and home stay, Nong Khiaw has it all. Be aware that Nong Khiaw is alternatively known as Muang Ngoi (the name of the surrounding district), creating obvious confusion with Muang Ngoi Neua, a 75-minute boat ride further North.
- Day 1: Luang Prabang – Arrival (D)
- Day 2: Luang Prabang – Nong Khiaw – Muang Ngoi (B,L,D)
- Day 3: Muang Ngoi – Ban Houeisene (B,L,D)
- Day 4: Ban Houisene – Muang Ngoi – Nong Khiaw Kayaking (B,L,D)
- Day 5: Nong Khiaw – Pak Ou caves – Luang Prabang (B,L,D)
- Day 6: Luang Prabang City tour – Departure (B)
Day 1: Luang Prabang – Arrival (D)
On arrival at the airport, transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is your own free time at leisure. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 2: Luang Prabang – Nong Khiaw – Muang Ngoi (B,L,D)
In the morning, we will drive to Nong Khiaw. Along the way, it is our chance to make some stops to visit the local hill-tribe villages. Arriving in Nong Khiaw, we will take an 01 hour boat upstream to Muang Ngoi, a lovely fishing village promising many unforgettable memory for our trip. Overnight in Muang Ngoi
Day 3: Muang Ngoi – Ban Houeisene (B,L,D)
In the morning, we begin trekking 2 hours to Ban Houay Boor (a Khmu and T’ai Deng ethnic village). After lunch at villager’s home in Ban Houay Boor, we continue our trek in around 1 hour to Ban Na (a T’ai Deng village) and Ban Houaisene, where we stay overnight at community bamboo guesthouse. Before dinner, joy Baci ceremony and traditional music show with the villagers.
Day 4: Ban Houisene – Muang Ngoi – Nong Khiaw Kayaking (B,L,D)
After breakfast prepare by the house owner, we begin trekking through the Rice field and beautiful landscape back to Muang Ngoi. On the way. we will stop at the Cave, where we will take a break for relaxing (swimming is possible). At approximately noon, we arrive at Muang Ngoi, where we will rest and have lunch.
In the afternoon, we will first be introduced with some basic kayaking skills before paddling down the Nam Ou River back to Nong Khiaw. Along the way, we will have a soft stop to visit Ban Sopkong (a Khmu Village). Arriving in Nong Khiaw late afternoon. Overnight in Nong Khiaw
Day 5: Nong Khiaw – Pak Ou caves – Luang Prabang (B,L,D)
Today, we will transfer back to Luang Prabang. Along the way, we will stop over at Ban Pak Ou, where we will take the small boat to visit Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by devoted pilgrims. Arriving back to the town of Luang Prabang at around noon, the rest of the day is your own free time at leisure. Overnight in Luang Prabang
Day 6: Luang Prabang City tour – Departure (B)
In the morning, we will first ascend the 329 steps to mount Phousi to admire the sunrise over the ancient city of Luang Prabang. After that, your city tour continues with a visit to the Royal Palace Museum, which hosts a range of interesting artifacts. We then head to the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture. We are then free before taking the departure flight.
